Gold Trading Parameters

Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading currently uses XAUUSD as its trading instrument.

The XAUUSD contract size, minimum lot size, maximum lot size, lot size step, tick size, spread, leverage, margin requirements, swap charges, and trading hours determine order execution conditions and trading costs.

2 Bid Price and Ask Price

XAUUSD displays both a Bid Price and an Ask Price.

Bid Price

The Bid Price is the current market buying price.

It is generally used when a user closes a long position by selling or opens a short position.

Ask Price

The Ask Price is the current market selling price.

It is generally used when a user opens a long position or closes a short position by buying.

The Bid Price and Ask Price may change continuously as the gold market moves.

3 Bid Ask Spread

The bid-ask spread is the difference between the Ask Price and the Bid Price.

The calculation is:

Bid-Ask Spread = Ask Price − Bid Price

For example:

  • XAUUSD Bid Price: 3,000.00

  • XAUUSD Ask Price: 3,000.30

The spread is:

3,000.30 − 3,000.00 = USD 0.30

The spread forms part of the trading cost.

The spread may be narrower when market liquidity is sufficient. It may widen during rapid market movements, periods of limited liquidity, market opening or closing periods, and major economic data releases.

The actual spread is determined by the market prices available when the order is executed.

4 Contract Size

Contract Size represents the quantity of gold corresponding to one standard lot.

The XAUUSD contract size is:

1 standard lot of XAUUSD = 100 ounces of gold

The following table shows the contract quantities for different trading volumes:

Trading Volume

Corresponding Gold Contract Quantity

1 lot

100 ounces

0.5 lot

50 ounces

0.1 lot

10 ounces

0.05 lot

5 ounces

0.01 lot

1 ounce

Contract size is used to calculate position exposure, margin, and trading profit or loss.

Users do not receive or own the corresponding quantity of physical gold.

5 Minimum Lot Size

Min Lot Size is the minimum trading volume permitted for a single order.

If an order is below the minimum lot size, it cannot be submitted or copied normally.

A copied order may fall below the minimum lot size because:

  • The user has allocated an insufficient copy trading amount

  • The strategy order is relatively small

  • The user has selected a low copy ratio

  • The copied volume calculated by the system is below the minimum permitted amount

If the calculated copy trading volume is below the minimum lot size, the system may not execute the order.

The applicable minimum lot size is subject to the information displayed on the Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading page.

6 Maximum Lot Size

Max Lot Size is the maximum trading volume permitted for a single order.

If a copied order exceeds the maximum lot size, the system may:

  • Limit the order to the maximum permitted volume

  • Divide the order into multiple orders

  • Reject the portion that exceeds the limit

  • Reject the entire order according to the applicable risk rules

The actual treatment is subject to the system’s execution rules.

The maximum lot size does not mean that a user can necessarily open a position of that size. The order remains subject to available funds, margin requirements, leverage limits, and platform risk controls.

7 Lot Size Step

Step Lot Size is the minimum increment by which the trading volume may be increased or decreased.

For example, if the lot size step is 0.01 lot, permitted order volumes may include:

  • 0.01 lot

  • 0.02 lot

  • 0.03 lot

  • 0.10 lot

  • 0.25 lot

The following volumes may not comply with the permitted step:

  • 0.015 lot

  • 0.025 lot

  • 0.105 lot

If the copied volume calculated by the system does not match the permitted increment, it may be adjusted according to the system rules.

The adjusted copied volume may differ from the original proportion used by the strategy account.

8 Tick Size

Tick Size is the minimum amount by which the XAUUSD price can change.

For example, if the Tick Size is 0.01, the price may move as follows:

  • 3,000.00

  • 3,000.01

  • 3,000.02

  • 3,000.03

Tick Size affects price precision, order prices, and profit and loss calculations.

The actual Tick Size is subject to the information displayed on the 100X Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading page.

9 Maximum Leverage

Max Leverage is the maximum leverage available for the current position.

Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading uses tiered margin requirements. As position exposure increases, the applicable margin rate increases and the maximum available leverage decreases.

The maximum leverage does not mean that a user can open every position using that level of leverage.

The leverage actually available may be affected by:

  • Position exposure

  • Available account funds

  • Existing positions

  • Strategy risk limits

  • Platform risk controls

  • Market volatility

  • Changes to product rules

The leverage and margin tiers are explained in detail in the Margin and Leverage section.

10 Margin Requirements

Margin Requirements represent the margin needed to open and maintain a position.

The required margin is calculated according to the position exposure and the applicable margin rate:

Required Margin = Position Exposure × Margin Rate

Position exposure is calculated as follows:

Position Exposure = Entry Price × Trading Volume × Contract Size

Margin is not a trading fee. After the position is closed and all fees and trading results have been settled, any margin not used to cover losses or fees is released back to the account’s available funds.

11 Swap Type

Swap Type indicates the method used to calculate overnight charges.

Gold position swap charges are generally calculated using points.

The general calculation is:

Swap Charge = Trading Volume × Contract Unit × Minimum Quote Unit × Swap Rate × Holding Days

The actual calculation method is subject to the Swap Type displayed on the platform.

12 Long Swap Rate and Short Swap Rate

Swap Long is the overnight rate applied to a long position.

Swap Short is the overnight rate applied to a short position.

Long and short positions may have different swap rates. A swap rate may also be positive or negative.

Users should not use the long swap rate to estimate the short swap rate or assume that swap rates will remain unchanged.

The applicable rates are subject to the information displayed on the Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading page.

13 Three-Day Swap

The three-day swap accounts for the cost of holding a position over the weekend.

Gold positions are generally subject to the three-day swap on a specified trading day. The reference settlement day is usually Wednesday.

If a user holds a position at the applicable three-day swap settlement time, the system may calculate three days of swap charges at once.

The actual settlement day, system time, and applicable charge are subject to the information displayed on the Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading page.

14 Trading Hours

XAUUSD is generally available for trading from Monday to Friday and is closed on weekends.

Trading hours may change due to:

  • Daylight saving time or standard time changes

  • International market holidays

  • Changes in market liquidity

  • System maintenance

  • Temporary trading suspensions

  • Platform risk controls

Users should refer to the actual market opening and closing times displayed on the Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading page.

15 How Trading Parameters Affect Copy Trading

Trading parameters may affect whether a copied order can be executed successfully.

An order may fail to copy, or its result may differ from the strategy order, if:

  • The copied volume is below the minimum lot size

  • The copied volume exceeds the maximum lot size

  • The volume does not comply with the permitted lot size step

  • Free margin is insufficient

  • The position has reached a risk limit

  • The XAUUSD market is closed

  • The spread widens rapidly

  • Market liquidity is insufficient

  • The price changes rapidly

  • The system is undergoing maintenance

Even if the strategy account has completed a trade, the copy trading account may be unable to execute the same order because of different trading parameters or account conditions.
