2 What Is XAUUSD

XAUUSD represents the price of gold quoted in US dollars.

In this symbol:

  • XAU represents gold

  • USD represents the US dollar

  • XAUUSD represents the value of gold relative to the US dollar

When the XAUUSD price rises, gold is appreciating relative to the US dollar. When the XAUUSD price falls, gold is depreciating relative to the US dollar.

A Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading strategy may open long or short positions according to market conditions:

  • A strategy may open a long position when it expects the price of gold to rise

  • A strategy may open a short position when it expects the price of gold to fall

  • A long position may generate a profit when the price of gold rises

  • A short position may generate a profit when the price of gold falls

Actual trading results are affected by the opening price, closing price, trading volume, spread, trading fees, slippage, and market movements.

3 XAUUSD Contract Size

XAUUSD orders are measured in lots.

The XAUUSD contract size is:

1 standard lot of XAUUSD = 100 ounces of gold

For example, when a strategy opens a 1-lot XAUUSD position, the corresponding contract quantity is 100 ounces of gold.

When a strategy opens a 0.1-lot XAUUSD position, the corresponding contract quantity is:

0.1 × 100 = 10 ounces of gold

When a strategy opens a 0.01-lot XAUUSD position, the corresponding contract quantity is:

0.01 × 100 = 1 ounce of gold

The contract size is used to calculate position exposure, margin usage, and trading profit or loss.

The user’s actual copied volume is determined by the copy trading amount, the strategy’s order allocation, the available account balance, and the platform’s risk control rules.

4 XAUUSD Position Exposure

XAUUSD position exposure is calculated as follows:

Position Exposure = Entry Price × Trading Volume × Contract Size

For example:

  • XAUUSD entry price: USD 3,000

  • Trading volume: 0.1 lot

  • Contract size: 100

The position exposure is:

3,000 × 0.1 × 100 = USD 30,000

Position exposure is not the same as the amount invested by the user. It is also not the same as the margin used by the position.

The required margin is calculated according to the position exposure and the applicable margin rate.

5 XAUUSD Trading Directions

Gold Principal Protection Copy Trading supports both long and short XAUUSD positions.

Long Positions

A strategy may open a long XAUUSD position when it expects the price of gold to rise.

The basic profit and loss relationship for a long position is:

  • A profit may be generated when the closing price is higher than the opening price

  • A loss may be incurred when the closing price is lower than the opening price

Short Positions

A strategy may open a short XAUUSD position when it expects the price of gold to fall.

The basic profit and loss relationship for a short position is:

  • A profit may be generated when the closing price is lower than the opening price

  • A loss may be incurred when the closing price is higher than the opening price

The trading direction is determined by the strategy selected by the user. Users do not need to manually copy the strategy’s opening and closing actions.
