Futures Account Fund Transfer Guide

Written by 100X

Before trading futures, users need to make sure there is sufficient available balance in their futures account. If the funds are still in the spot account or another account, they may not be available for opening futures positions, adding margin, or paying related fees.

This article explains the basic rules, operation steps, and common questions related to futures account fund transfers.

1. Why Do Users Need to Transfer Funds?

Different accounts on 100X are used for different purposes.

Funds in the spot account are mainly used for spot trading, deposit arrivals, and certain asset management operations.

Funds in the futures account are mainly used for futures trading, including:

Opening position margin;
Adding margin;
Paying trading fees;
Funding fee settlement;
Profit and loss settlement after closing positions.

Therefore, before trading futures, users need to transfer funds to the futures account first.

2. How to Transfer Funds to the Futures Account

Users can transfer funds through the following path:

Open the 100X App → Assets → Transfer

After entering the transfer page, select the following based on the page instructions:

Transfer direction: From Spot Account to Futures Account;
Asset: Select the asset to transfer, such as USDT;
Amount: Enter the amount to transfer.

After confirming that the information is correct, tap confirm to submit the transfer.

Once the transfer is completed, users can view the corresponding asset balance in the futures account.

3. How to Transfer Funds Back to the Spot Account

If users want to transfer funds from the futures account back to the spot account, they can also use the transfer function.

Operation path:

Open the 100X App → Assets → Transfer

After entering the transfer page, select:

Transfer direction: From Futures Account to Spot Account;
Asset: Select the asset to transfer;
Amount: Enter the amount to transfer.

After confirmation, the system will process the transfer based on the account balance and page rules.

4. Why Is There a Balance but Futures Positions Cannot Be Opened?

If users see a balance in their account but cannot open a futures position, it may be due to the following reasons:

Funds are still in the spot account and have not been transferred to the futures account;
The available balance in the futures account is insufficient;
Existing positions are using part of the margin;
Existing unfilled orders are using part of the margin;
The transferred asset is not supported by the current futures trading pair;
The required margin for the order is higher than the current available balance;
The remaining balance is insufficient after estimated trading fees or funding fees.

Users should first confirm whether the funds have been transferred to the futures account and check the available balance in the futures account.

5. Where to View the Balance After Transfer

After the transfer is completed, users can view the fund status in the following places:

Assets Page: View asset balances in different accounts;
Futures Account: View the account balance available for futures trading;
Futures Trading Page: View available margin, available opening quantity, and other information;
Fund Records: View transfer records and account balance changes.

If the page does not update immediately after the transfer, users can try refreshing the page or re-entering the assets page.

6. Are There Any Fees for Transfers?

Fund transfers between accounts within the 100X platform do not incur any fees.

For example, transferring funds between the spot account and the futures account is only an internal fund movement within the platform account system. It is not an on-chain transfer and no transfer fee will be charged.

After the transfer is completed, users can check the fund change records in the corresponding account balance and fund records.

7. Common Reasons for Transfer Failure

If a transfer fails, it may be due to the following reasons:

Insufficient available account balance;
The entered amount exceeds the transferable amount;
The selected asset does not support transfer temporarily;
The account is under risk restriction;
System maintenance or network issues;
The current account status does not support transfer;
Platform risk control rules temporarily restrict the operation.

Users can adjust the transfer amount according to the page prompt or try again later.

8. What to Pay Attention to When Transferring Funds

Before transferring funds, users should pay attention to the following:

Confirm whether the transfer direction is correct;
Confirm whether the selected asset is correct;
Confirm whether the transfer amount is correct;
Confirm whether the funds are needed for the current transaction;
Avoid transferring all funds into a single-purpose account;
Confirm that the futures account has sufficient available balance before trading.

If users need to trade futures, they should make sure the funds have been transferred to the futures account. If users need to trade spot or withdraw assets, they should confirm whether the funds are in the corresponding account.

9. How to View Transfer Records

Users can view transfer details through fund records or asset records.

Transfer records usually display:

Transfer time;
Transferred asset;
Transfer amount;
Transfer direction;
Transfer status.

If users need to check fund changes, they can confirm them through transfer records and account balances.

10. Risk Reminder

Fund transfer is only a movement of funds between accounts. It does not mean that a trade has been completed, and it does not directly create a futures position.

Futures trading is a high-risk trading product. Before transferring funds to the futures account and trading, users should fully understand futures trading rules, leverage risk, liquidation risk, and related fees, and manage funds reasonably based on their own risk tolerance.
